The Client: Apriwell

Technology Meets Medicine

Striving to provide holistic care for chronic diseases, Apriwell is the first digital integrated care app that offers people a real solution consisting of preparations, telemedical support, and a digital therapy program.

The Mission: Going from MVP to Native App

We joined to help Apriwell review results of the web-based MVP app, and design and develop the next iteration - native apps for Android and iOS. We needed to oversee the whole process, from analyzing user feedback to creating user journey and mock-ups to collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop the apps.

How We Helped

Led the MVP Scoping

We led MVP scoping under direct guidance of the Founders:

  • Ran an initial scan of current user data (from Heap and Fullstory).
  • Created a comprehensive user-centric flow of the main website, purchase process, and overall user experience including user registration and onboarding.
  • Mapped the web-based app (v1) to analyze the current offer and how it differs from the new version based on the discussions and expectations of the team.
  • Gathered key user insights from the consultation calls, hotline, and chat messages (coach service of the app).
  • Translated usability testing documents into English (they were originally in German), identified the most important findings, and created a cleaned-up version to support future decisions. Translating user reviews on Google, My Business, and Trusted shops came next. This was also helpful to analyze the overall customer experience.

Oversaw the App Design

We conducted our research around the industry’s best practices, the successful competitors, and what works best for the branding to optimize our UX design. Besides optimizing for usefulness and usability, we also made accessibility a priority as the app is used by the elderly and so we had to ensure an easy and seamless experience by considering different possibilities to display crucial components on each screen in a clear way.

Managed the App Development

Working with a team of four developers, we worked with APIs and proceeded with implementing the features based on priorities and testing.

A notable challenge we resolved during this phase was constraints by new terms and conditions on Apple and the Google app stores regarding IAP.  Flow and copy have to be done in a way not to get penalized by Google and Apple, so the app had to be built without any purchasing. The purchasing itself would happen on the website and the app would serve as a platform to get news, updates, and content about health and how to feel better.

For Clients: When to Hire Us

You can hire us as an Interim/Freelance Product Manager or Product Owner

It takes, on average, three to nine months to find the right Product Manager to hire as a full-time employee. In the meantime, someone needs to fill in the void: drive cross-functional initiatives, decide what is worth building, and help the development team deliver the best outcomes.
If you're looking for a great Product Manager / Product Owner to join your team ASAP, Product People is a good plug-and-play solution to bridge the gap.
